My journey with adult coloring started around 2020. After barely drawing for over 20 years, I decided to buy some colored pencils, but I quickly realized it wasn’t going to be easy. Even sketching was intimidating, and the last thing I wanted was to quit drawing simply because I’d made it too difficult for myself. So, to make it as simple as possible, I started with adult coloring books.
I bought a few books by Johanna Basford and started drawing. It was a great feeling to know I didn’t have to bother with the sketching and could just focus on the coloring.
Johanna has put together many great adult coloring books, but not just that. She has also published books like How to Draw Inky Wonderlands and 30 Days of Creativity. Great books for anyone who wants to learn more than just how to color.
Eventually, I realized I wanted to create my own coloring pages, and started looking into it. Sketching was still difficult, but easier than before.
It took me almost a month to put these two images together. Mostly because of too much overthinking and because I had no idea what to draw.
Eventually, I decided to go for a Halloween theme, but I found myself doing a lot of research just to figure out how to draw certain things.
For instance, I found a great course on Skillshare about how to draw cats, because that was something I needed help with.
I also tried to color the images, as you can see, but digital coloring is still not coming easily to me.
In the end, I managed to put together two drawings, and I’m happy with them. There’s still a lot left to learn, but I do hope you’ll enjoy them if you choose to download them.
I look forward to creating more coloring pages in the future!
